Wireworks Audio/Video Cables for Tropicana Casino

Wireworks, the leading innovator of audio/video cabling systems, has been creating custom cabling systems for the Showroom at the Tropicana Casino and Resort in Atlantic City, NJ since 1982. As the Showroom upgrades its already existing system, the venue continues to rely on Wireworks for its cabling needs.

The Showroom features famous headline performances, including concerts by Top-40 artists as well as performing arts productions. The Showroom is also the location of several boxing and mixed martial arts matches. Upcoming fall performances include Howie Mandel, Brad Garrett and The Temptations.

“At the Tropicana we continually depend on Wireworks for its durable and reliable products and exceptional service,” said John Higbee, Lead Sound Technician, Tropicana Casino and Resort. “We needed a cabling system that was diverse enough to handle a band one night and a boxing match the next. Wireworks has consistently offered quick turnaround and exceptional quality.”

The venue’s entire system is outfitted with Wireworks’ equipment, including proprietary hardware products, a fully modular snake system, 76 channels of audio split to two stage monitor mixing locations and a front-of-house mixing location, and various modular fan-outs and extension cables. The central splitter box was customized by Wireworks specifically for the requirements of Tropicana’s diverse performances, providing terminations for a fully redundant set of sub-snakes.

A custom breakout panel was also designed by Wireworks to accommodate visiting TV/broadcast trucks to capture the performances first-hand. All 76 audio channels are terminated to this panel, each with its own ground lift switch, enabling truck engineers to plug their fan-outs directly to the in-house channels. The full redundancy of the snake system allows sub-snakes to be semi-permanently wired to set pieces and band risers used in long-running production shows, since there are replacements for all sub-snakes available for visiting headliner performances.

“The system at the Tropicana is a very complex and diverse setup,” says Gerald Krulewicz, president of Wireworks Corporation. “We continually work with the facility to look for ways to simplify setup and break down for backstage and front of house. We look forward to working with them for many years to come.”
