Sennheiser Wireless EM 3732 Twin Receiver, Excellent Audio Quality
The well-known reliability of Sennheiser wireless technology now boasts unprecedented frequency flexibility. The new EM 3732 twin receiver with 90MHz switching bandwidth and ultimate operating convenience makes sound engineers' lives so much easier. Excellent audio qualities, numerous connection options, scanning function and transmitter synchronization via infrared interface are all features of the new top receiver of the 3000 Series.
RF specialist Sennheiser is celebrating its 50th anniversary of manufacturing radio microphones, and now the EM 3732 will set new standards for the industry: This twin receiver with its 90MHz switching bandwidth provides amazing flexibility within the UHF spectrum while maintaining maximum selectivity. "The RF spectrum is getting ever more crowded, but the EM 3732 is so flexible that the user will have sufficient alternative options to avoid interference, especially for multi-channel systems," says Sven Boetcher, Product Manager for Professional Systems. The receiver features six user-selectable fixed frequency banks and one user bank with up to sixty channels that can be programmed in increments of 5kHz. Within a frequency bank the EM 3732 automatically searches for free frequencies. "This frequency scan, plus the synchronization function and the numerous connection options will significantly simplify the job of the sound engineer. The
EM 3732 is the ideal companion for shows on tour."
Multi-talented receiver for multi-channel operation For large multi-channel applications, the EM 3732 is not just impressive due to its wide switching bandwidth and tunable channels, but also because of its infrared interface, which programs the SKM 5200, SK 5212 and SKP 3000 transmitters with the receiver data in minimum time. "This is very simple and quickly done via a Hot Key," explains Boetcher. Due to the integrated antenna splitter, up to eight twin receivers can easily be daisy-chained. The receiver system can be remote-controlled and monitored using the provided "Wireless Systems Manager" software. For this purpose, the PC is simply connected to the Ethernet socket of the EM 3732.
Brilliant user guidance The EM 3732 boasts a splendid user interface, which guides users through intuitive operating menus using easily remembered icons. Navigation is done via a jog dial, and frequently used menu items can be accessed directly via convenient shortcuts - Hot Keys. The sound engineer is able to get an overview of all settings very quickly. Both receivers can be monitored - individually or simultaneously - via headphones. The receiver's front panel layout is clear and structured and its OLED display offers particularly high contrast and intensity.
Premium audio The level of the receiver's audio output signal can be set in increments of 1dB and is available at a transformer-balanced XLR-3 output and at a digital AES3/EBU audio output for digital mixing consoles. The receiver can provide the sampling rate (44.1kHz, 48kHz, 88.2kHz or 96kHz/24 bit) or it can be synchronized by the audio mixer via a BNC connection. The receiver's HiDyn plus expander is no analog component but is DSP-based, thus further increasing the audio quality.
Practical accessories The EM 3732 twin receiver is complemented by a range of convenient antenna accessories. The rugged AB 3700 broadband antenna amplifier is designed for a frequency range of 470-866MHz and amplifies the received signal by 5 to 15dB. The antenna booster is fitted with two multi-color LEDs for indicating the amplification: even from a distance it is possible for the sound engineer or RF engineer to read the respective setting. Unlike conventional antenna amplifiers, the AB 3700 will open a second, low-attenuation (-6dB) signal path in case of power cuts. Further, two active receiver antennas are available: the directional AD 3700 and the omni-directional A 3700.
Versions The sister models of the EM 3732 are the EM 3731 single receiver and the EM 3732 COM twin receiver, a special command version with a second XLR-3 audio output for talk-back purposes. All models are available from July 2007.
