Phonic PAA6 Beta Windows Software for USB ControlPAA6 owners the world over can rejoice today in the beta release of the Phonic PAA6 Windows application. Phonic has just uploaded the first ever PAA6 application for interfacing your PAA6 audio analyzer with the computer, along with a new firmware update for stable operation and better PC integration.Those who have a PAA6 will now be able to control their PAA6 remotely through a USB connection. The 9 functions can then be utilized through the PC, while users can position the PAA6 anywhere within the range of the USB cable. Please note that not all functions are complete in this beta release. To operate the PAA6 interface software, users are required to perform the previously mentioned firmware upgrade. This is accomplished by doing the following: 1.Download the latest PAA6 firmware file. 2.Ensure the file is named "phonic_ui" (with no file extension). 3.Place the file on a FAT-32 formatted SD card. 4.Connect the DC power adapter to power the PAA6. 5.Turn the PAA6 on and insert the SD card. 6.Enter the system menu, select Calibrate and then the Update icon. 7.The PAA6 will restart and the firmware will be updated. Software Installation 1.Download the PAA6 Windows installation software. 2.Connect the PAA6 to the computer via FireWire. It's important to remember that the USB connection will not charge the PAA6 so we suggest users connect the DC power supply. 3.Extract the installation files into a new directory. 4.Find the file usb.inf within the Driver directory. 5.Right click usb.inf and select "Install". 6.Run the setup.exe file within the Software Setup folder to install the PAA6 software. 7.Follow the onscreen instructions to install. Minimum System Requirements Operating System: Windows XP SP2, Windows Vista & Windows 7 RAM: 512 MB (1 GB or more recommended) CPU: Intel Pentium 4 (dual core or better recommended) USB 2.0 port We would like to emphasize that this is beta software and as such may include bugs and incomplete functions. If you find any minor quirks, please feel free to contact us with these and we'll include these on our bug list. Any major functionality issues are more than likely already on this list. Phonic takes no responsibility for any problems, whether software or operating system related, that occur while using the beta version of this software. Any inexperienced users are suggested to wait until the final software is released. Our software programmer is still hard at work, so keep an eye out over the coming months for software updates, as well as Mac-based software downloads. We've also kept a comments section open at the end of this news release for those who want to jump in and make feature requests while software development is still on-going.
